You shouldn't be getting black smoke during a regen. The exhaust does NOT get up to 600C before the regeneration starts. it'll be 300-400C under normal driving at most. Reaches 600-700C DURING a regen. You also do NOT need to thrash it to initiate a regen. It'll do it even in 6th gear at 1,500rpm. F.
2008 mondeo mk4 2.0 tdci done 137k EML light came on took it to the garage and the hoses from dpf melted so had these replaced. So the take away from my experience is that if your car is constantly trying to regen, and you have the P246B code in the PCM, and a high pressure reading in the DPF with the engine off, then it's most likely the Pressure Differential sensor.
